Mirror is a new form of web interaction. Mirror allows you to connect with others based on the qualities you value, for dating, social or professional purposes.

How does Mirror work?

Mirror enables you to start connecting with others in three easy steps:

Step 1 - Create a frame for yourself. A frame is a fun, short profile of who you are and what you’re looking for. It takes approximately three to five minutes to complete. It includes your real name, photos, verified phone number and email, as well as some of your interests and personality traits. You can select what you want to be connected for and how you want to be connected (SMS or email, real-time or aggregated format).

Step 2 - After creating a frame, you invite your friends via Facebook or email to give their take on you. A take is short snapshot of their relationship with you. It includes special moments from the relationship, some fun adlibs about you and is designed to bring out your unique personality. As we like to say around the Mirror offices, Facebook is “what I like”, Mirror is “what I’m like.”

What is a frame?

A frame is a short profile that a user creates for her or himself on Mirror. It takes approximately three to five minutes to complete and gives users the opportunity to verify themselves, upload their photos and highlight their qualities and interests. Most importantly, the Mirror frame serves as the basis for those closest to the user, friends and family, to share experiences with and give their take on the user. Using Mirror, you are simply providing the frame or contour of who you are, and letting those who know you best fill in the details.

What is a take?

A take is a short snapshot written about you by the people in your life who know you best. You invite your friends, family, or co-workers to give their take on you. They highlight your unique qualities and skills as well as the special moments in your relationship. Takes help you build up your online reputation and make connecting with others easier.

Once a user has created their frame, they can invite friends via Facebook or email to give their take on them.

Are the connections anonymous?

Yes. Mirror technology allows the SMS and email messages send by our users to remain anonymous for a preset amount of time.

SMS: All SMS messages sent through the Mirror network will remain anonymous for 48 hours after the user responds to the first incoming message. After 48 hours, the users will be prompted to exchange their real numbers if they want to continue chatting.

Email: All email messages remain anonymous until the user responds to the first incoming message.

How does the approval process work?

To ensure that the Mirror community remains free of any fake users, spam and inappropriate content, Mirror administrators approve all frames and takes. The approval process may take 10 minutes or 12 hours. Without giving away our secret recipe, we use a combination of computer algorithms and human editors to ensure that the content users submit is accurate and appropriate.
