Content Guidelines

The Content Guidelines were last updated on May 25, 2012

We realize that Mirror is a powerful site. Mirror allows users to contribute different kinds of content, including text, photos and ratings. Our goal at Mirror is to enable the creation of a truthful, thoughtful and balanced portrayal of the relationship and the individuals in it. We don't believe respect and truthfulness are mutually exclusive with candor and levity. To that end, we ask you take a look at the guidelines for some of the content you might want to contribute to the site.

Inappropriate content.

Our form offers our users plenty of opportunity to freely express their opinion about the relationship and the individuals in it. Colorful language and imagery is fine, but we at Mirror have no tolerance for threats, lewdness, hate speech or other displays of bigotry. Use your best judgment when sharing your story. Remember, it's called Mirror for a reason.

Conflicts of interest.

Make sure your takes are unbiased and pertain to a real relationship. For instance, writing a take on yourself, while tempting, isn't acceptable and actually a little crazy. Also, writing a take about someone when being compensated for it isn't necessarily crazy, but it's not acceptable. Plus, we're pretty smart and will probably catch you.

Conflicts with reality.

We want truthful content. Make sure you have actually been in a relationship with the individual about which you are writing the take. For instance, giving a take about Kim Kardashian would probably be fun. However, it would also likely be untrue and probably wouldn't get you any closer to a relationship with her.

Privacy.

Don't publicize other people's private information. The Mirror takes are meant to provide perspective on the relationship and the individual based on your experience and opinion. You should avoid posting any personal information like phone numbers, addresses, e-mail addresses, health or financial data.

Original content.

Don't steal content from other takes, sites or users. We want to hear your opinion, so give it to us!

Photos.

Photos are a great way to enhance your takes. We love them. However, please make sure the photos you submit are appropriate (this means no nudity or offensive content, sorry guys!) and do not infringe on any known copyrights.

Everyone over 18.

For god's sake, no minors writing takes, reading takes or being written about!
